About REVIVE
REVIVE is a private journal for tracking your relationship with alcohol. It helps you log drinks and moments, observe patterns, and request AI-generated reflections on your own entries. REVIVE is a personal journaling tool — it is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.
Data we collect
The app only stores data tied to your account. We collect:
- Account identifiers — your email address, Firebase user ID, and (if you sign in with Google) the display name on your Google profile.
- Journal entries — drink logs, moment logs, daily check-ins, free-text notes, AI insight history, streak counters, personal start date, weekly goal, gender, age, and reminder preferences.
- Device data — Firebase Cloud Messaging registration tokens for the devices you allow push notifications on, and your timezone (used to fire reminders at the correct local time).
- Subscription state — whether you hold an active Google Play subscription to REVIVE Pro, and the renewal or expiry date. We never see or store payment card details — Google Play handles all billing.
- Operational logs — standard, anonymised web server access logs (IP, user agent, timestamp). These do not include log content, notes, or insights.
Why we collect it
- App functionality — to render your journal, calculate streaks, and generate insights you request.
- Account management — to authenticate sign-in and tie your data to you.
- Personalisation — to make AI insights specific to the entries you select.
- Reminders — to deliver scheduled reminders, daily check-in nudges, and milestone notifications at the right local time.
- Security and abuse prevention — to detect and respond to misuse of the service.
We do not run advertising, sell your data, share it with data brokers, or load third-party analytics or trackers.
Where your data lives
Your account and all logs are stored in Google Firestore under your Firebase user ID. Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. Push notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging. The app is hosted on Vercel. All traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Firestore and Firebase Authentication encrypt data at rest.
Firebase (Google) and Vercel act as our infrastructure processors — they store and serve data on our behalf under contract and do not use it for their own purposes.
Sharing with third parties
The only third party we share log content with is Anthropic (the Claude API), and only when you explicitly tap Analyse selected on the Insights screen. At that point the selected drink and urge entries — including any notes you have written — are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a reflection. We do not include your name, email, or account identifier in the request. Anthropic processes API inputs and outputs under its own privacy policy and does not use them to train its models. Subscription transactions are processed by Google Play under Google's terms; we receive only the subscription state (active, cancelled, expired) and renewal date.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, REVIVE registers a Firebase Cloud Messaging token for your device and stores it on your user record. The token is used solely by our scheduled server job to send your own reminders — risk-window alerts, daily check-in prompts, and streak milestones. You can disable notifications at any time in Settings or in your device's system settings; the token is removed when you sign out or delete your account.
Retention
- Account and logs — kept until you delete them.
- Anonymised server access logs — up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention, then automatically discarded.
- AI insight requests — Anthropic retains API inputs and outputs per its own retention policy (typically up to 30 days), not under our control.
- Google Play billing records — retained by Google under Google's policies; not accessible to us.
Your rights and controls
You can do the following at any time:
- Clear all data without deleting your account — Settings → Clear all data. Removes all logs, check-ins, insights, streaks, and preferences while keeping your sign-in. Details at /account/delete#clear-data.
- Delete your account and all data permanently — Settings → Delete account, or visit /account/delete. Deletion is immediate and irreversible; no copy of your logs, notes, or insights is retained.
- Cancel your subscription — manage and cancel through Google Play subscriptions. Cancelling does not delete your account; deleting your account does not cancel an active Play subscription.
- Disable notifications — toggle off in Settings or revoke the system permission. The FCM token associated with that device is removed.
- Access or correct your data — write to the contact address below.
Children
REVIVE is intended only for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete the account.
International transfers
REVIVE is operated from India. Firebase, Google Cloud, Vercel, and Anthropic may process your data in the United States, the European Union, or other regions where they operate infrastructure. By using REVIVE you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in those regions, subject to the safeguards each provider maintains.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app, our infrastructure, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.
